Toronto rapper and longtime Drake affiliate Baka Not Nice is breaking his silence after being name-dropped in Kendrick Lamar’s explosive track “Not Like Us.”

On the song, Kendrick raps, “And Baka got a weird case, why is he around?” — a line that immediately stirred controversy and drew attention to Baka’s past.

Appearing on the “Hot Freestyle” podcast, Baka opened up about hearing the lyric for the first time and how it hit him personally.

“My first instinct was to respond — quickly, directly, and efficiently,” he said. “Because where I come from, that doesn’t happen. You can’t just call out a man like that without having paperwork to back it up. That is ludicrous.”

Baka went on to express disbelief over the public reaction, stating, “Then to see a whole nation behind it, celebrating like it’s a true story, is unbelievable… I have a kid. Drake has a kid. So making accusations like that — it’s ridiculous and completely out of this world.”

He also shared how Drake helped him stay grounded in the aftermath, offering some words of perspective and support.

“[Drake] was like, ‘Yo, I know what you’re feeling. I know you as an individual and I know how you get down. But I’m just letting you know — don’t listen to the noise, because it’s just noise. If you go back and look at all these people saying things, they’re not even real people — they’re bots. So don’t let it bother you, bro.’”
