Shannon Sharpe's Attorney Addresses $10M Offer to Accuser Before Case Went Public

Shannon Sharpe's attorney is speaking out as the former NFL player and entertainer has been accused of raping and threating a woman he dated during a "rocky consensual relationship."
During a meeting with reporters on Tuesday (April 22), Lanny J. Davis, Shannon's attorney, revealed that Sharpe was ready to pay "at least" $10 million to Jane Doe to close out the case before it went public. Davis added that the proposal was made during mediations with the plaintiff "within the last month or so."
Davis went on to state that Doe appeared to be considering the offer before suddenly walking away and filing the $50 million lawsuit. He stated that it was "a big surprise to us when suddenly this case was filed without any advanced warning."
Jane Doe claims that she was 20 years old when she met Shannon in a gym, and during their relationship, she says he was controlling and verbally abusive.
Shannon broke his silence on the lawsuit on Tuesday, stating, "I know my family and fans know exactly what this is about. And I'm going to be out there telling you whatever I need to say, just like I always do. I love all you guys."
