Future Breaks His Silence on Young Scooter's Death: Life Will Never Be the Same
Future is mourning the loss of his longtime friend and collaborator, Young Scooter. The rapper took to his Instagram Stories on Wednesday (April 2) to share a heartfelt tribute.
Posting a video of the two together, Future wrote, “Life will never b the same without u my brother. I love you my [ninja] this s*** unreal 💔.”
His post follows an earlier tweet that many believed was also in reference to Scooter’s passing. In it, Future wrote, “I can hear u loud and clear my brother(street)…we got u kid.”
Young Scooter and Future shared a deep bond, both personally and professionally. Scooter was one of the first artists to sign with Future’s Freebandz label in 2012. His biggest mainstream moment came with his guest feature on Future and Juice WRLD’s 2018 track, "Jet Lag," which marked his sole entry on the Billboard Hot 100.
The news of Young Scooter’s death sent shockwaves through the hip-hop community. The Fulton County Medical Examiner’s Office confirmed that the 39-year-old died on his birthday from a “penetrating injury of his right thigh that caused significant blood loss.” Reports indicate the injury occurred while Scooter was fleeing from police who had responded to a call about an alleged incident involving a naked woman being abused at the residence he was in.
In a related development, 31-year-old Demetria Spence was arrested and charged with transmitting a false public alarm. She was granted a $7,500 bond.
